Jarrad has trained at both WAAPA & VCA in Musical Theatre and Theatre respectively, and has worked in the industry for almost 25 years as a director, actor, writer and choreographer.
For his first time direction of Beautiful Thing for the Garrick Theatre, he won the Robert Finley Award for Best Production of 2004. This was after working consistently since finishing high school as both a puppeteer and touring performer throughout WA.
Since moving to Canberra in 2006 he has established himself as one of the most sought after and respected directors and performers here in the ACT, working with Free Rain, Supa Productions, Canberra Philharmonic Society and Canberra Repertory.
He directed the cabaret shows Funny Lovin’ That Theatre and Tickets- Music- Passport; the latter of which was staged successfully at Teatro Vivaldi’s in April of 2007.
In 2008 he co-founded Everyman Theatre, one of Canberra’s most respected theatre companies. He has appeared in their productions of Someone Who’ll Watch Over Me, In Cold Light, Singer, Dancer, Actor, The Ides of March, GOD + pool (no water), The Musical of Musicals (The Musical!), The Burning, Company and The Normal Heart. He directed its productions of Latin! Or Tobacco and Boys, The Laramie Project, Breaker Morant, RENT, Home At The End and Twelve Angry Men. He remains co-Artistic Director of Everyman Theatre; working to continue their long run of critical successes after their recent award-winning production of The History Boys and the critically acclaimed Australian premiere of Queers.
He is looking forward to collaborating with a new company and new artists to create some more excellent theatre here in the nation’s capital.
