Theatre Directing - An Introduction
From finding the right play to analysing the script, developing your staging concepts to auditioning, rehearsal structure to working with actors and your creative team, this popular two-term course is designed to give both the novice and inexperienced director insight to every aspect of theatre directing, taking a play from the script to the stage.

Working with a renown director of the professional, independent and community theatre scenes, Term One will focus on the theory of each stage of a director's process. This will be followed by Term Two where students will be invited to participate in the practical elements of staging a play culminating in a showcase. Students will also be recommended and placed as Assistant Directors and Directors for Canberra's top theatre companies.
One-on-One Classes
Got an upcoming audition for a production, film or TV role or drama school? Simply want the intensive and personal attention a group class can't offer? Then these one-on-one classes will challenge and stimulate you and keenly hone your skills. For anyone passionate and serious about their craft, be prepared to be challenged and pushed to be the best you can be.

Students have been successful in obtaining places at NIDA, VCA, WAAPA, QUT, Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, Bristol Old Vic and many other established acting schools.

Acting for Adults
- Advanced
Designed for the experienced student who has partaken in the Mockingbird Beginner/Intermediate classes. These classes, under the banner of MuSE (Mockingbird Student Ensemble), will take the form of intensive rehearsals/workshops over two semesters of 20 weeks each. Two productions will be performed at the end of each semester with students entering into a profit-share arrangement.
Students will be challenged in a positive environment to hone and develop their talents through detailed character analysis, voice work, physicality, responding to other actors, self-perception as well as the fundamentals of creating your own production. With constant emphasis on working as a professional ensemble, students will choose the plays they are to perform and be involved with every aspect of producing a quality production.

This will be an intense, stimulating course for the serious actor.
An ensemble of actors will be formed via auditions with a monologue of their choice. In exceptional circumstances, existing students may be invited to join. Only 12 positions are available. Practical theatre and/or film experience is essential.

Classes will culminate in a student showcase at the end of the year. with an informal showcases/open classes at the end of Terms 1-3.
